Week #2

  Hi Family,
Sorry but I don't have any pictures for this week, cause I don't really think about taking a ton of pictures, and there isn't really anything to take pictures of at the MTC.
So I sent you the Picture of my district but I didn't really tell you names or anything. So if you look back at the picture the tall blond elder with glasses is Elder George, he is from Fresno, CA (He is the one related to the people that lived below Karissa). and his companion, the short brown haired one is Elder Barker, he is from Kaysville and he knows the Elkins and the Yocoms. The Asian elder is Elder Yu, he is from missouri. and his companion is Elder Allen from Lehi. The two on the ground are Elder Boad from South Jordan, and Elder Olsen from Lehi. I don't remember where they are standing in the picture.

Chinese is an insane language and I would not recommend learning it for fun. I can't believe I have already taught 6 lessons in Chinese, I don't know if I actually said anything correct but I did it. I'm so glad that I am in the MTC for 9 weeks cause I need all the preparation I can get.

This week has been a lot better. Apparently in October David Archuleta is doing a concert in Taiwan to celebrate the church being there for 60 years or something, and it is in Taipei but all of the missionaries get to go to it so that is cool.

We got 2 new teachers this week. One is the sister who was our investigator, she is from Taiwan and was baptized when she was 14. The other is Sister Finlayson (from New Jersey, not related to Meg).

The Sunday devotional this week was so cool. The Nashville Tribute band (look them up) came and gave us a little concert thing. And the choir got to sing some songs with them. For the last song they had us sing that sad missionary song that Dallin likes to listen to. But it was so fun!

It is definitely true that the Lord qualifies those who he calls. There is no way that anybody here at such a young age is qualified to learn a new language and 9 weeks and go teach people about the most important thing that they could ever hear. But I can definitely feel the Lord's love and strength as I study the Gospel and learn the language.

John sent me the pictures of the Family reunion, and I see that Hal still has not gotten a hair cut. But it looks like you guys had a lot of fun!

The MTC is actually a really fun place. Most of the time we do the exact same thing every day, but I actually really like the food, and I have the best zone ever! the group that is leaving to go to Taiwan next week is my mission, so I'm really hoping that I will get to serve with some of them in the field. and I've got a really great branch presidency. I can't remember if I told you about my branch president before, but he is so awesome and he has helped me so much. His name is President Newell. He was a mission president in Stockholm Sweden, and before that he worked for the Secretary of State and was super good friends with president Reagen. He lives up by the temple and after I leave the MTC, you should go meet him, cause he is a great guy!
Well tell me if there is anything specific you want me to write about or any pictures you want me to take. Thank you all for your prayers, they are a great strength to me. Love You!

Week #1

Sorry I forgot to tell you my pday is Wednesday. haha this week has honestly been super hard for me. I miss you guys so much, but I love doing the work of the Lord. Ive already learned so much chinese in just a week. Its crazy. I can say the missionary purpose, and the baptismal invitation, and we have already taught three lessons in nothing but Chinese. My companion is also going to Taichung.
I've seen Max, Aaron, Dane, and Mckay. Aaron is in my zone so its really fun to be around him a lot. We have such a cool zone and our zone leaders, Elder Mccusker and Elder Fear, are some of the coolest people I've ever met.
For our first Sunday devotional Elder Bednar Came and did a Q & A for all the missionaries so that was a really awesome first devotional. For our second devotional a released member of the seventy spoke to us. I've learned so much about the spirit and about this gospel.
Today we went to the temple for pday and when I went to get my name, Michael Maio was getting ready to go through for the first time. I was super excited for him.
I actually don't mind the food at the MTC, but I still haven't had a wrap yet ( sorry Kaitlyn ).
Sorry I don't have a lot to write, I kind of sometimes forget what happened throughout the week.
Our investigators name is Wu Jia Xin she is from Taiwan and completely Buddhist, so she knew nothing about God or Jesus Christ or anything like that. During the third lesson she told us that she believed that the Book of Mormon was true, and that she felt the spirit. It has been really cool to see her grow over only a few lessons.
In one of our lessons she had read the Book of Mormon, but we didn't give her a specific chapter or verse to read so she read the first 4 chapters of 1 Nephi. So We had to explain to her why Nephi killed Laban... in chinese. That was pretty difficult but also really fun.
I joined the choir. on the 24th they are having us sing background for a Christian band, so we are singing some pretty weird songs.
I still probably won't look at the pictures Amber gave me until about another week.
My branch president lives up by the Temple, his name is President Newell, he is such a great guy.
I do really love it here though, and its getting better and better everyday.
Well I love you guys so much!
Thanks! Love You!!

Off to the MTC

Elder Bosco is in the MTC and is doing great! It was a hard goodbye, but we know he is where he is supposed to be. His friend, Max, was there to greet him at the MTC and off they went. We are so proud of Collin!

He sent us a quick email that night,
"I just have time to email real quick and tell you that everything is going great! My companion is Elder Johnson from Texas, and I've seen just about everyone their is to see. Love you!"
