Week #50

  Well I hear that they are retiring my dads jersey, I was really really hoping that they wouldn't do that until I got home, but either way thats so awesome! But even more than being an awesome football player he is even a better dad. And I forgot to say something last week because fathers day here is in August. But anyway I love my dad so much and am so grateful for all that he has done for me. He has always supported me in everything that I have done. And he has always been a great example of a worthy priesthood holder, and somebody that I wan to bee like when I grow up. Love you dad!

   

Well this week has been a pretty good one for Elder Huang and I. We had interviews this week with President, and he counseled us to just bring all of our crazy finding ideas to the table, and then counsel with each other and with the Lord on what we should try. So I will let you know if anything crazy happens. But we did find 2 pretty good new investigators this week! 

   

One is that Winnie Lin that we actually found last week, but we were able to meet with her this week. We taught her about the Restoration and it was really good. And she has been reading and praying, so that is good. She said she hasn't had any special feelings or anything, but I know that those will come. 

  

 The other one is a guy named Lai. He used to meet with missionaries like a year ish ago, but then got pretty busy. He just graduated High School, and then the ward kind of referred him to us. But we were able to meet with him this week, and he is super awesome. So hopefully everything will continue to go well. 

   

Also this week we tracted into this super awesome family. It was a mom and her 2 sons that were 6 & 8. We just talked about how we were sharing a message that can really bless families. She was going to let us in, but she didn't because her husband wasn't home. And she said that he works the night shift until July, but she said that we could come back in July!

Week #49

  Well remember how last week was just super super hot, this week was

like equal to that but in terms of rain. One night Elder Huang and I

were biking under an overpass, and as soon as we got under it, we were

pedaling under water... so that was fun. I  have realized it is only

as a missionary that you can be biking in the pouring rain and just be

laughing and having a good time.

  

But the rain did help us this week, because we were talking to this

girl that was just getting ready to leave, and then it started pouring

rain so we went under the awning thing, and we were able to teach her

a lesson. Her name was Winnie like as in Winnie the Pooh, and she said

that she would have more time to meet next week, so we will see.

  

We had Zone Conference this week and we focused a lot on the

Doctrine of Christ, and especially how us as missionaries need to be

living the Doctrine of Christ (especially daily repentance), that we

will be able to teach it more simply and powerfully to our

investigators. I have definitely noticed that the times in my life

where I have practiced daily repentance, I have definitely felt the

Spirit in more abundance, which has allowed me to have more happiness

in all things.

 

 These past 2 transfers, Elder Huang and I have been trying really

hard to work with the ward, because they are so awesome, but it hasn't

been working super well. But we recently got a new branch mission

leader, and he has been working really hard to set up some activities

and other things that could really help the ward start doing

missionary work. We are setting up a sign up sheet thing so that

members can come do missionary work with us. Also a board game

activity that members can invite their friends to, and get to know the

church in a less intimidating way. And also a Book of Mormon

Challenge, where every week somebody gets the challenge to try and

hand out as many Book of Mormons as they can to friends and family. So

hopefully these things can start getting the member missionary work

going here in QingShui.

  

Something that I have learned lately, is that the Lord definitely

has a plan for each and everyone of us. I know that he puts us in

certain situations, with certain people, for a certain reason. He is

always putting us in situations that will allow us to grow, and to

rely more on him. but something that I have also learned, is that no

matter what situation we are in, Heavenly Father always wants us to

have joy. And true joy can come to us in any situation if we really on

Jesus Christ and his Atonement.

Week #48

  Hello Everyone! this week was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HOT!

And apparently this week it is supposed to just rain like crazy. So it

should be pretty fun. 

Sister Huang stopped answering our calls, so

hopefully it isn't because she doesn't have interest. And the lady

that came to church last week has a crazy work schedule, and she never

knows when she will have to work so it has been hard to set up with

her. And we didn't really find anyone new this week. 

But a miracle

that happened was on Monday my tire like somehow ripped and got

wrecked, but the people at the bike place just gave me a new tire for

free. It was so awesome, cause tires are pretty expensive.

  

Although this week was another tough one, It has also been a really

good one. During one personal study I felt inspired to read in Chapter

1 of PMG [Preach My Gospel] about a successful missionary. 

Some of the things that stuckout to me were 

1. In the first line it talks about how your success is measured by commitment 

2. It is our duty to teach clearly and give people a fair chance whether to accept of reject 

3. Even when we are doing everything we can, we will still face disappointments, but we

will be proud, and we know the Lord is proud. 

Even with the recent struggles, I feel that our commitment has been strengthened. 

And we have been working hard on trying to really get to know people in

contacts, and then see what part of the gospel that we can relate to

them. And something that I think I have struggled with a little bit on

my mission is truly trying to seek the Lord's will and then follow it.

But I know that as I work harder on doing that, the Lord will open up

doors for us that we could have never found on our own.

  

We were able to eat dinner this week with Tom and Reagan. We were

able to also have a really good conversation with them. We were able

to answer most of their questions, and relate it all to the Book of

Mormon. Which led up really well to our final invite to them, which is

just to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it, and receive their

own answer from God. Overall it was a really good lesson, and I could

definitely fell the Spirit with us helping to answer their questions.

  

Also this week we were able to have an awesome ward missionary

activity. There is a Liahona article about a ward that made banana

bread, and then they went out and delivered it and tried to share the

Gospel. So we made cookies with our ward and then we went out and

tracted with our ward members and tried to share the cookies and the

Gospel. Our ward members were really open to just sharing their

testimonies at these peoples doors, and they weren't really nervous or

awkward or anything. I think it was a really good activity to help our

members see that if they can share their testimonies with these random

people, then they can definitely do it with their friends!

Week #47

 Well the amusement park last week was super fun. Apparently they were going to build a Disneyland where they built this amusement park, but instead the built it in Hong Kong. If you google 麗寶樂園 you should be able to see a video of a cool roller coaster that we got to go on. Actually Elder Huang and I were the only ones that got to go on it. First of all we waited in line for like and hour and a half because for some reason they had to wait 15 minutes between each ride. And so we would have had to wait one more time but the people ahead of us had a big group and they wanted to go together, and so although we were in a group of like 9, Elder Huang and I ditched everyone and went on cause they just needed 2 more. So after we went, we were watching the next group go and then the ride stopped and they kicked everyone off. So we were the only ones that got to ride it.

 
Also this week Elder Huang and I ate 100 potstickers. he ate 53 and I ate 47. My stomach hurt pretty bad after, but it was worth it.

 
We met again with Tom this week, and he brought his friend Reagan. So we were also able to teach her. And also I know a lot now about Catholicism. But it turns out that they are apparently foreign Catholic missionaries so I am not sure if we will be meeting with them anymore.  But we did give them a Book of Mormon. So hopefully they read it because it is a very powerful book. 

 
This week (especially up in Taipei) Taiwan has been getting wrecked with rain. And we also got a little bit of it down here so that has been super fun. But on the way home on a rainy day we stopped at one more 7 to talk to some people. We talked to this one High School kid who said missionaries had talked to him before about prophets, and he was interested so we set up to meet with him. And he does not have a phone but yesterday we saw him again and we were able to confirm the appointment cause he said he had to talk to his dad first. Also we met another guy who had talked to missionaries before about prayer. He is preparing for tests at the end of the month, but he said he could meet after that. So thank you to those missionaries who were able to plant some good seeds. 

 
Also a lady that we met a couple of weeks ago that hasn't been answering her phone answered on Saturday and then came to church on Sunday. She said she could come again next week, but because of work she cant really meet with us, but hopefully we can set up with her. 

 
 Well thats about it for this week. Also Elder Huang hit his year mark which means I am next... CRAZY! Love you all!
