Week #61

This week was a super good week! We were able to see so many miracles. Elder Durrant is just amazing me with his willingness to talk to people, a lot more willing then I was when I got out here. And his Chinese is just straight fire right now!

Before I came out on the mission I always thought I would have a lot of experiences where I would just be going somewhere, and then I would have a distinct thought to go to some random place, and then when I got there I would find some super golden person the wanted to get baptized. But that is not what it is like at all (at least for me). But what I have noticed this week is that when you show the Lord that you are willing to talk to all of the people that he puts in your path, he will continue to put more prepared people in your path, and he will help you know what to say in order to help them.

We started off this week by going on exchanges with the Zone Leaders. I was able to go with Elder Fear. He taught me so much about working hard and being a consecrated missionary. During our exchange we set a goal that we wanted to get 2 adds during a 30 minute block of contacting, but then as Elder Fear was praying, he felt that we should pray for a new investigator. So we went to work and we couldn't find anybody, and then pretty much at the end of the 30 minutes, I start talking to this guy outside of a family mart. And he was really interested in the Book of Mormon and asked if we could give him one.  And then that night I had a similar experience with Elder Durrant, where we were able to talk to a high school student about God and prayer, at the very end of the day when we had not found a new investigator yet. Elder Durrant and I have been working really hard to hit the mission standard of 1 new investigator a day, and things are definitely heading in the right direction.

We had to super cool experiences this week, where we were able to just ask people if we could meet with them right on the spot. We were able to teach the Restoration to a Mr. Jin and on a different occasion a Ms. Li. And they both said the would read and pray about the Book of Mormon. They didn't know when they could meet again, but the both seemed really interested.

Huang and Zhong stopped answering our phone calls this week. But we were able to meet with a really cool guy named brother Jian. At first when we walked into the church he was sitting on the couch, and he was pretty confused because he thought we had invited him to an activity and there was nobody there. And he kept asking why we wanted to meet with him, and he didn't seem too interested, but as we sat down and talked to him for a while, he started to become more interested, and as we taught the Restoration he had a lot of good questions and understood it pretty well. He committed to read and pray about the Book of Mormon and we are meeting with him again on Thursday!

We had a really cool experience with a member this week. We were eating dinner at her restaurant. And it was just us and another couple in the restaurant. During the meal, the member just went up to the other couple and told them about us missionaries and about how we were sharing a message that could really bless their family. It was awesome to see a member just so willing to share the gospel with complete strangers.

Well that is all from me this week. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world, and I am so glad I have 10 more months to share that message in Taiwan!

Also two of my favorite missionaries, Elder Griffin and Elder Huang, both have birthdays this week, so Happy Birthday to both of them. Also shout out to my dad who is getting his jersey retired this week. Love you!
