Week #40

Well this week for the first time on my mission I got kicked out of a Family Mart. A Family Mart is a Japanese version of a 7-11. So there are a lot of Family Marts and 7-11s everywhere, and we do a lot of proselyting inside. Usually we have good relationships with the workers and they don't really care if we proselyte in there, but there is this one Family Mart where every time we walk in there they instantly start trying to sell us stuff, and then this time they just decided to tell us that we couldn't proselyte in there so that was pretty interesting.

GOLDEN PERSON ALERT! On Tuesday we got a call from on of the senior missionaries in our mission about a lady from the Philippines that she met on facebook. So we met with them on Saturday and they are so awesome! We met with her and her husband, and the husband's whole family are members of the church in the Philippines. And what I think happened is that they took all of the lessons in the Philippines, but then moved to Taiwan before they could get baptized. Then the wife (her name is Rose-fel) couldn't find the church/missionaries here for 2 years. But then Rose-fel was able to find Sister Randolph (the senior missionary) on facebook. And these past two weeks she has been traveling 1 1/2 hours on a bus to attend the English branch in Taichung. We mostly just got to know them when we met with them. Since it has been so long since they have been taught the lessons they kind of forget lots of it. But the have a Book of Mormon, and they read it and pray every day. Also they believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet. And they just couldn't stop telling us how happy the Gospel makes them, and how happy they are because of the knowledge of the Restoration. Also they have a 4 year old daughter and this week we are teaching them about the Plan of Salvation, and you know that nothing makes me happier than teaching about eternal families.

This week we had a record 57 people at church (including everybody, we did obviously not have 57 investigators come to church... that would be cool though) Also one of our investigators, Huang Jie Mei (Jie Mei is sister in chinese) (also she is the one that is a referral from that family in Taipei that me them while camping) came to the last hour of church. But the members really love her and they were just talking the her the whole time and she really liked it. She also came to our ward activity this week and she loved it! She is praying and reading everyday, but she feels like sometimes the Book of Mormon is hard to understand and she does not feel like she has necessarily gotten an answer, but I know for a fact that she has felt the Spirit, and her (and her 2 daughters that she brings to church and stuff) are so prepared.

Also Happy Easter! People do not celebrate Easter here, and yesterday we were talking to a hardcore Daoist who was pretty sure that it was impossible for anyone to be resurrected. How grateful I am to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I am so grateful for the knowledge of my Savior Jesus Christ. I am so thankful that he was willing to suffer and die for me, and that because he was resurrected we will all be able to be resurrected. One thing that the mission has done for me is really strengthen my knowledge of simple truths that I have been learning my whole life. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world, I know that it is only through him that we are able to have true happiness in this life, and eternal life in the life to come. And last of all I know that He Lives!

Love you all! Have a good week! Go Cavs!
